Governance and Volunteer Management (NPM350)

Course Description: Explore the role of ‘unpaid’ labour in a non-profit organization—board members, volunteers and professional pro-bono services. You’ll examine the colonial concepts of volunteerism, including board governance as a key volunteer role, and identify tools and approaches that support an organization’s core purpose. You will also examine the ethics of engaging ‘unpaid’ workers and learn ways to address common non-profit management challenges such as recruitment, retention and succession planning.
